From: neil40 on 8 Jul 2010 18:15 Hi Our customer needs a 5 license user CAL pack for his SBS 2003 Server. Is it correct that I now have to buy 2008 and backgrade it? If so, the place we purchase our IT stuff from, has the following T74-01214 - Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 - version upgrade licence Is this not what they need? Thanks Neil
From: Merv Porter [SBS-MVP] on 8 Jul 2010 20:03 Licensing is confusing (to say the least)... T74-01214... those are the "Volume Upgrade" CALs used when you are upgrading from SBS 4.0, 4.5, 2000 to SBS 2003. You'll need to buy the Volume License or Retail SBS 2008 CALs. If Volume License, the install keys should be listed on the Volume License Service Center web site after your purchase. If retail, you'll need to call Microsoft to get the SBS 2003 install keys for the CALs. SBS 2008 Pricing http://www.microsoft.com/sbs/en/us/pricing.aspx You'll also need to specify either User or Device SBS 2008 CALs at the time of purchase. If you currently have SBS 2003, I believe you will also need to order these as SBS 2008 Premium CALs to math your SBS 2003 Premium usage. -- Merv Porter [SBS-MVP] ============================ "neil40" <neil.grantham(a)googlemail.com> wrote in message news:45b0521e-16d2-469a-94c5-ec6fec87b90f(a)j8g2000yqd.googlegroups.com... > Hi > > Our customer needs a 5 license user CAL pack for his SBS 2003 Server. > > Is it correct that I now have to buy 2008 and backgrade it? > If so, the place we purchase our IT stuff from, has the following > T74-01214 - Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 - version > upgrade licence > > Is this not what they need? > > Thanks > Neil
