Hi,

I have an SBS 2008 prem server, which double as my business and home
network. I store music and videos on the server, and have tried
configuring one of my workstations as a media server via media player
or media center (I can't remember which).

Apparently the workstation can't share content which is located on a
network drive (well, easily. I tried to configure this to work, but
got no where), so I'm wondering if its possible to to configure SBS in
this way.

My goal is to make streaming to my ps3 or sony tv possible, which can
see media servers (using dnla I believe, which I think ms supports as
well).

Thanks
Andy

The answer to both this question and the one regarding backups below is a
great system from MS called Windows Home Server.

Acts as streaming media server and will backup, bit by bit, and only the
changed bits, up to 9 PCs plus the SBS on the network.

Larry,

When you say backup SBS, does the server backup to it, or it backs up the
server?

How is exchange handled? Will it work with SBS2003?

Larry,

Thanks, but as I said I also use the server for business devleopment.
While I'm sure MS would love me to buy yet another server, I don't
have the room to do so, nor do I want to manage yet another server.
As I said, I do also have development work (I have my own MSDN
subscription), which requires features not found in Windows Home
Server, and for my business requirements SBS works well, as it does
for most of my home user as well.

In regards to my backup question, WHS doesn't answer this at all. Any
other business with SBS 2008 and Windows 7 setting up backup in this
way with redirected folders will have the action center warning about
files on network shares not being backed up. This has nothing to do
with home use at all.
