Are you getting any other errors in event viewer or in the gather log such
as ' location cannot be found ' ?
You could try resetting the Index file ( basically clearing it and starting
again ) but I do not think this is going to solve it.

I've experienced exactly this same error, however ALL of the documents
affected are .xls files !!??

Any ideas what SharePoint uses as 'iFilters' for Office files?? Since
there are 32 documents affected I'm guessing it's not due to file
corruption!
