From: dealrocker on 20 Jan 2010 10:59 My friend own a Dell Studio 17 laptop and he want to backup some data. But, USB 2.0 is slow for a back up drive and moving data. His laptop has a dedicated eSata port which moves data at 3.0GB/sec. So, he is looking for a good SSD drive with an eSata enclosure. Any recommendation..

I don't know about any SSDs in particular, as I don't yet own one. However, if you are looking for a decent external enclosure into which you could put an SSD, the Vantec NexStar 3 is a good bet. (However, your SSD will have to take on the form factor of a hard drive for that to work.) These enclosures support USB and eSATA or USB, eSATA and Firewire 400. eSATA may not work as a hot-swap solution, because SATA controller drivers don't always tell the operating system that eSATA ports have removable devices attached. eSATA also does not provide power to an attached device. If USB is too slow, and eSATA turns out not to work as you intended, perhaps Firewire would work better. Some Dell laptops have a Firewire port, and I can assure you that Firewire 400 is faster than USB 2.0. (This is because Firewire devices have their own onboard intelligence and also because the protocol is more efficient.) William
