From: Frank Huttner on 31 May 2010 15:20 Hello, after I already posted our Win7/Samba problem concerning the offline folders here is our next Win7/Samba problem. I can't open Office2007 documents on a samba server running RHEL 5.x OS: RHEL 5.5 Sambaversion: 3.5.3 (same with 3.3.8) Sambaconfig: ... security = ADS passdb backend = tdbsam oplocks = yes level2 oplocks = yes kernel oplocks = no ... When I try to open an Office2007 document it takes about 2 min until the first error is displayed in the samba logs: "Oplock break failed for file test.xls -- replying anyway" After 2 more min I get the error "could not open test.xls" on the client (Windows 7). The error only occurs when the samba server is running RHEL 5.x and samba accessed the share data via NFS. We have up- and downgraded to many different samba versions ... as long as the OS is RHEL 5.x and NFS is involved, the problem exists. 1) client (win7) -- samba server (RHEL 5/Samba 3.3.x - 3.5.3) -- NFS server (RHEL 4, RHEL 5, Solaris) --> opening Office 2007 documents: ERROR 2) client (win7) -- samba server (RHEL 5/Samba 3.3.x - 3.5.3) -- data stored locally on samba server --> opening Office 2007 documents: SUCCESS 3) client (win7) -- samba server (RHEL 4/Samba 3.3.x - 3.5.3) -- NFS server (RHEL 4, RHEL 5, Solaris) --> opening Office 2007 documents: SUCCESS Can anyone give me a hint how to fix this problem ? best regards -- To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the instructions: https://lists.samba.org/mailman/options/samba
