Just to add - I've just connected an 18 inch EIZO LCD monitor to my Mac Mini in addition to a Mitsubishi CRT. The EIZO has a 90 degree pivot. After marvelling at the way you can extend the screen across two monitors and the quality of the EIZO, I looked at displaying portrait on it. The driver software is Windows only it seems, but the display preferences on 10.6.3 has a rotation option and it's a simple matter of selecting 90 degrees - as if by magic the display prefs for each monitor opens for each screen and obviously you have to select the rotation on the prefs on the pivoting monitor. It then worked on the EIZO. E.

Alternatively, I could come and 'fix' some of the broken things in your house and then your partner would appreciate your efforts a little more... ;-) -- Bruce Horrocks Surrey England (bruce at scorecrow dot com) |
