Possibly, if one incorrectly entered the username. (I'm

OK, I'm baffled. Time for some questions:

* you also deleted the #username line too, right?

* you are getting prompted for a password, but not user name??

* Do you have more than one news account defined?

* What are your server settings for the news account?
- port
- Connection security
- Always request authentication when connecting to this server

* What version of SeaMonkey are you running? (2.0.5 was just
released.)

* This is a news account provided by your ISP?

* If so, can you perhaps share the identity of your ISP?

* Otherwise, can you share the name of the news provider?
