From: ed on 23 Nov 2009 10:15 Hi all, We need to add our several users secondary email address users(a)company1.com besides their primary email address users(a)mycompany.com. I created the recipient policy and add the secondary email address to users in active directory users and computers MMC. I did nslookup and company1.com MX record points to DNS provider's mail server. Are there any other things I need to make changes? Will they be able to see emails in the outlook if someone send to users(a)company1.com? Thank you.

Shouldn't your domain's MX record(s) direct the connections to your server's IP address? >Are there any other things I need to make changes? Yes for mydomain.com (my company) What about this secondary email address domain @company1.com Do I need to create MX record for company1.com to point to our exchange servers? currently, they are point to ISP Mail server. In other words, If I need to add the secondary email address to the users, what are steps to allow users to receive secondary email address emails? > > >Are there any other things I need to make changes? You do if you expect that other email systems on the Internet will send email to your system. >In other words, If I need to add the secondary email address to the users, >what are steps to allow users to receive secondary email address emails? Well, I guess I'd ask you what are your expectations for how this will work? Do you want the email selivered to your system or to the ISP's system? And, if it's to the ISP's system, how you expect the email to arrive at your system? Assuming you want a "normal" email flow, .. Add the secondary domain to a Recipient Policy that applies to those people that will receive email sent to the secondary domain. .. Apply the policy (now they have email addresses in both domains) .. Change the MX record for the domain to use the same A record as your primary domain .. Go have a cup of coffee. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP
