From: rogeepete on 8 May 2010 13:43 A friend is running Win XP and OE6 for e mail. She could not open a .pps file so I downloaded and installed a pps file viewer. Now, when she tried to open the file attachment with the .pps extension, she get a message that her security level does not allow her to open the message. How do I lower her security controls in OE6? If you just downloaded PowerPoint Viewer, this little fix will most likely be necessary, but it isn't security related. Thanks OE isn't involved in opening the .pps file. That's why you had to get the viewer app. Perhaps the author of that .pps file decided to add a password to protect it. Have her ask the sender if they password protected the .pps file. I have Powerpoint so there is no point in installing the viewer, so I don't know if perhapst the viewer won't prompt for the password. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/278578 You never mentioned from WHERE you obtained the vaguely described "pps file viewer" application.
