Both of them have "chat" boxes and don't require a terminal. What about Adium? When I was playing with iChat and YM, I set the test connections up on the LAN to see how it worked. http://adium.im/ http://messenger.yahoo.com/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Mac_OS_X_instant_messengers -- Very old woody beets will never cook tender. -- Fannie Farmer

There is no "simpler interface" than the terminal window; GUI apps by their very nature are "grandiose" and networking is networking whether one is communicating with ones oul' Woman across the room or stalking ones one true honey-bunny on another continent. I could probably "cobble" something together that used browsers, but if I needed this facility I'd use a terminal or iChat and save my programming skills and patience to further the cause of Flash and annoy the iZealots. Have a nice day now, I do believe this conversation has worn itself out. -- Very old woody beets will never cook tender. -- Fannie Farmer

Yes, Growl has been mentioned already. You should read the rest of the thread. ; ) I personally find Growl too freaking pervasive to be useful. So many applications automatically display messages if you have Growl installed that it's more a pain than an actual use for me. -- Send responses to the relevant news group rather than email to me.
