From: Chris Murray Chris on 18 Nov 2009 04:14 Hi Guys I'm having the same issue. We only have 1 main server, so it is actually the AD server and the DNS server. The only abnormality in the ipconfig is that the DNS server is 127.0.0.1, which I know is a loopback, but should that be the machines actual IP?!? it baffles me how ther service doesn't restart and a reboot sorts the problem. Cheers Chris "Meinolf Weber [MVP-DS]" wrote: > Hello Carlo, > > Please remove the x.x.x.14 from the DNS/WINS list if this doesn't have that > server roles. From: Meinolf Weber [MVP-DS] on 18 Nov 2009 04:38 Hello Chris, This shouldn't be the issue, but you should always use the real ipaddress instead. the loopback ip wil be set automatically during promotion to DC to make sure the server has a running DNS server configured, if you choose DNS on the DC. From: Chris Murray on 18 Nov 2009 07:25 Hi, I just checked and it has the relevant DNS bits and bobs, it's set to listen only on its own IP. From: Meinolf Weber [MVP-DS] on 18 Nov 2009 07:54 Hello Chris, Please post an unedited ipconfig /all from the server and a problem machine. Is the server installed with the latest SP/patches? Are all machines listed in the DNS zone with there correct ip address from the LAN?
