Ah, mystery partly solved: It seems to be my new laser printer.
Wireless, and all. Was able to get rid of it by turning it off, then
re-cleaning the caches, delete some extra printers, it was gone from the
side bar. Then I go shopping, come home, turn it on, print, and sometime
later it appeared.

You're just going to have to deal with it or learn more about
customizing your printer, I'm afraid.

Well, now I am afraid it isn't the printer at all, as this weird server
has disappeared and reappeared several times now since then, with
nothing being changed on the printer or its drivers, or activity.

Do you run virtual machine software? I've seen VMware show up there in my
network share list as a PC.
