From: Steve Smith on 26 May 2006 17:14 we have official newsgroup for beta testing at betanews.microsoft.com but you need a login to access those and I am assuming they are not issuing the beta 2 testers access to these newsgroups ? From: Armbruster, René on 27 May 2006 12:05 You should check if you gave the sps service user the rights needed and that you installed anything correctly. I posted an installation howto and a configuration howto at my blog, if you follow these steps anything should work correctly. see the howto at http://blog.dotsys.net hope this helps you. br René "Steve Smith" schrieb: > we have official newsgroup for beta testing at betanews.microsoft.com but > you need a login to access those and I am assuming they are not issuing the > beta 2 testers access to these newsgroups ? > > Steve Smith > www.combined-knowledge.com > > > "Dan Marth" <danmarth(a)hotmail.com> wrote in message > news:OknR6bQgGHA.3456(a)TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > > There are some "beta" forums here but I don't think there are any news > > groups. > > > > http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/default.aspx?ForumGroupID=155&SiteID=17 > > > > Thanks, > > Dan > > "Steve Smith" <steve(a)combined-knowledge.com> wrote in message > > news:OOQudXQgGHA.4712(a)TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > >> Your right , thats funny. From: Lawrence Liu [MSFT] on 28 May 2006 23:59 Yes, there are private beta newsgroups for Tech Beta participants. Alas, this is not one of those newsgroups. Because Tech Beta participants and everyone else (i.e "public beta" participants) were directed to download the Beta 2 bits from the same place, the guidance from Microsoft folks about using the private (though they don't always include this qualification) beta newsgroups may be confusing to the public beta testers because they don't have access to those Tech Beta newsgroups. This newsgroup (at least for now) is about all that is available from Microsoft in terms of providing a resource for peer-to-peer Q&A and discussions for Office SharePoint Server. Officially, the public beta testing of the 2007 Office system products is not supported by Microsoft. Nevertheless, many SharePoint MVPs do monitor this newsgroup and will help as best they can. I'm in the process of getting a new set of newsgroups implement to better support all versions of SharePoint Products & Technologies. Read this blog entry (http://blogs.technet.com/lliu/archive/2006/05/16/428674.aspx) for more details. From: Engelbert on 30 May 2006 03:00 And those forums if you look very carefully at the wording are 2007 Office *System* which I'm fairly sure is MS code for Office 12 client products. The SharePoint-based products are "2007 Office Servers" and forums for them weren't listed when I looked yesterday. There are supposed to be newsgroups coming. They probably won't have 2007 in the name though which will no doubt confuse many. I suspect when those newsgroups arrive there will also be parallel 2007 Office Servers forums too. The new newsgroups have been designed to replace the existing WSS and SPS newsgroups as well as support Q&A and discussions of WSS V3 and MOSS 2007. I just submitted the request to create them last week. Here's the list: microsoft.public.sharepoint.general [replaces the current WSS.general newsgroup and this newsgroup] microsoft.public.sharepoint.setup_and_administration [new and focuses on installation/config as well as admin/operations] microsoft.public.sharepoint.design_and_customization [new and focuses on layout, master pages, site definitions/templates, and SharePoint Designer] microsoft.public.sharepoint.development_and_programming [replaces the current WSS.development and SPS.development newsgroups] microsoft.public.sharepoint.server.excel_services microsoft.public.sharepoint.server.forms_services microsoft.public.sharepoint.server.business_data_catalog "Engelbert" wrote: > And those forums if you look very carefully at the wording are 2007 Office > *System* which I'm fairly sure is MS code for Office 12 client products. > > The SharePoint-based products are "2007 Office Servers" and forums for them > weren't listed when I looked yesterday. > > There are supposed to be newsgroups coming.
