How do I restore it? Create a text file in Notepad as follows: [Shell] Command=2 IconFile=explorer.exe,3 [Taskbar] Command=ToggleDesktop Save it as Show Desktop.scf then drag it to the Quick Launch bar. Or just click on this link: Restore/Add Show Desktop to Quick Launch (Line 61) http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm Also note that you can do the same thing with a keyboard shortcut rather than a shortcut on the Quick Launch bar: the combination of the Windows key + D or the Windows key + M. -- Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP (Windows Desktop Experience) since 2003 Please Reply to the Newsgroup
From: Rajiv K Khandelwal on 9 Mar 2010 06:09 Thanks Jose and Ken for your replies and the advice. Even before that I zipped the file in the QL folder of one computer and unzipped it in the one having the problem. It has started functioning. There is nothing mysterious about the QL area - it is just some regular shortcuts in a regular folder where you can browse to with Explorer and add/modify/delete them just like anything else. Everybody has one! For me: C:\Documents and Settings\Jose\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch The Show Desktop is a little different being a shell command file (.SCF) |
