My version with the Refresh Now option is 2.9.12

Actually my brother found it impossible to call me using his
non-'3'mobile with Skype installed. Likewise I could not call him
using my S2. At the same time I could call him via my laptop without
any problems.

And unfortunately - as pointed out in another thread - if you have
Skype running on a PC and a call comes in the S2 grabs it and diverts
it to '3's voicemail before allowing the PC version to respond.

My signal strength should be the same for my laptop using a '3' dongle
and '3' S2 side by side. However whereas Skype on the PC always
refreshes automatically on the S2 this has to be done manually.

And the two listings of the statuses of contacts are not commensurate.
For example on my laptop my brother's Skype id was shown greyed out
(i.e. unobtainable), yet on my laptop the icon was a green tick.

Then I could connect with Skype and speak with him via my laptop, but
the S2 still considered his id as offline and refused to connect.

Same situation with my set up. No 'refresh now' option - hence the
need to switch the S2 off and then on again. And I downloaded the
latest version of Skype as one of the first things tha I did when I
got the thing home.

When I first got my S2, I set up a separate Skype account just for the phone
as I thought it might cause conflicts with the computer, and I named it
HarrysSkypeMobile in my contacts list so others could distinguish between
accounts, this also has the added advantage of allowing test calls to be
made between phone and computer.
