I have it set up to start automatically on switch on but on my S2 it often
fails to do so and I have to go through login. There is a message something
like we cannot connect you... try later. My wife on her S2, bought at the
same time, does not seem to have that problem. Any ideas what could be the
reason? Is it fault?

My guess is your phone has had a Skype update forced on it and your
wife's hasn't
Have a look at the version number (options - about)

There was nothing wrong with Ver 2.9.12 which was on my phone when I got it.
It has become progressively more broken with every subsequent update!

It does not seem to be the explanation in this case. Both mine and wife's
Skype version is 3.80.0.2. The main difference is in usage. She does not use
Skype on PC while I do use it in parallel with S2 being switched on. And she
uses Skype only to communicate with me.
