This FUD has been on for years, starting with Quicktime when it was made
available for Doze.

iTunes, like _many_ programs on both Mac and Windows, ASKS during
installation whether it should be default for files of type _____

If you say 'no' it (unlike AOL) does not do it anyway.

Does that make it fascist?

iTunes DOES install Apple Software Update without asking.
