Yes, that's why I tried using nomodeset. I have even tried going back to the vmlinuz-2.6.34-12-desktop kernel. Since houghi tried multiple desktops, it must be something unique to this kernel. The Nvidia driver is 256.35_k2.6.34.0_12-14.1-x86_64, for GeForce 9500 GT. I'm still looking. Dennis -- Dennis Golden Golden Consulting Services Change 'invalid' to 'com' to reply by email.

I've never seen Xorg near 10% much less 100% for several seconds. Please let us know if anything changes. It's just to unproductive to use 11.3 at this point. I dumped gkrellm (whilst using 11.2) in favor of it as I had packaged up conkyforecast, now I've packaged up conky along with the nvidia and lua bits and pieces which packman/oss exclude. I don't think it has anything to do with gkrellm. The mouse would fail to respond even without gkrellm running. Not as often, but it still happened. I just think that there is something amiss with Nvidia and the 11.3 kernel as there are several reports with no reference to gkrellm. It's just more difficult to correlate the issue just using top. HW is HP Compac DC5750 AMD Athlon(tm) Dual Core Processor 4450B and GeForce 9500 GT. Dennis -- Dennis Golden Golden Consulting Services Change 'invalid' to 'com' to reply by email.
