Hi,

Suddenly my tab bar in Safari 4.0.3 (Snow Leopard) disappeared.

Just prior to this my little "X's" to delete the tab went away. I
googled for a solution and I ended up Resetting Safari. The "X's" were
back but I have no tab bar at all. Command-T makes a new tab, and a
tab bar.

Could anybody steer me in the right direction?

That is normal. Safari 4 doesn't display the tab bar unless there are at
least two tabs. You may have had something set up before which caused
Safari to always start with two tabs.

It also doesn't show the 'X' to close a tab unless you point the mouse
cursor at the tab.

Alternatively, you may have had some kind of third party hack which
modified Safari's behaviour, but that hack only works when Safari is set
to run in 32-bit mode, or the hack is not compatible with the latest
system updates you have installed.

No tab bar until there's a tab sounds right to me.

Hi. that worked.

But now, when I click on a link from email the link opens in a new
window, instead of a new tab.

I've got Prererences/Tabs all set now and mail still opens a new window
instead of a new tab.
