Here's the bootparams from the virtual machine (I've split it so Google doesn't mess it up): -bash-3.00$ cat /etc/bootparams netra root=solaris10u3:/export/home/jumpstart/install/Solaris_10/ Tools/Boot \ install=solaris10u3:/export/home/jumpstart/install \ boottype=:in \ install_config=solaris10u3:/export/home/jumpstart/config \ rootopts=:rsize=8192 Snoop is reporting this (I cut out some TFTP before this): netra -> solaris10u3 TFTP Ack block 422 solaris10u3 -> netra TFTP Data block 423 (512 bytes) netra -> solaris10u3 TFTP Ack block 423 solaris10u3 -> netra TFTP Data block 424 (104 bytes) (last block) netra -> solaris10u3 TFTP Ack block 424 OLD-BROADCAST -> (broadcast) RARP C Who is 8:0:20:d9:e1:16 ? solaris10u3 -> netra RARP R 8:0:20:d9:e1:16 is 192.168.0.8, netra netra -> BROADCAST BIFF R port=111 solaris10u3 -> netra BIFF C port=32771 netra -> (broadcast) ARP C Who is 192.168.0.79, solaris10u3 ? solaris10u3 -> netra ARP R 192.168.0.79, solaris10u3 is 0:c: 29:fe:b3:77 netra -> solaris10u3 WHO R port=32777 solaris10u3 -> netra WHO C port=32777 netra -> solaris10u3 SYSLOG R port=32777 solaris10u3 -> netra SYSLOG C port=32777 BAD.FMT: netra -> solaris10u3 PRINTER R port=2049 solaris10u3 -> netra PRINTER C port=2049 netra -> solaris10u3 PRINTER R port=2049 Then it just repeats the PRINTER stuff.... So it's definitely got all of the boot image from tftp and knows the IP/mac of the NFS server from rarp, but what syslog and printers have to do with jumpstart is beyond me!

I'll give it a try, but I can't see it helping as RARP is working by the looks of things. I don't think so though, as its pretty much the same as I got from using Linux as the jumpstart server. The printer thing is actually NFS and it eventually stops - it seems the Netra dies or something as the LOM stops responding and pings timeout... I hope its not a hardware issue. Anyone got a Netra CD-ROM drive for sale? ;-)

I'm pretty sure you can plumb it in, you may have to remove any outer chassis bits, but that is how I solved needing one to inititae wanbooting on my V120. -- Bruce "The internet is a huge and diverse community and not every one is friendly" http://www.ytc1.co.uk

No. I did see a few posts about a broken LOM on Netra's, but it doesn't seem to be anything like my issues, and I'm not sure you can even do it without a running OS can you? > > Anyone got a Netra CD-ROM drive for sale? ;-) > :-) > > Clue.... use a laptop one. > > I'm pretty sure you can plumb it in, you may have to remove any outer > chassis bits, but that is how I solved needing one to inititae wanbooting > on my V120. Yeah, I'm looking into that as it seems my laptop's DVD drive is a Teac DW-224E and the CD-224E is the drive usually found in T1-105's, but it seems there's some bit of circuitry and special cable needed on top of the drive itself.....? Thanks for the help so far, I'll keep at it despite the nagging in the back of my head to buy an HP and bung RedHat on it :-( |
