FileZilla is one of the best free ftp clients.
Works great for setting file permissioms

Filezilla is a nice program. But I think winscp is probably a
better ftp/sftp client than Filezilla. Winscp has the ability
to "tunnel" through an ssh server to reach another host
behind it. With Filezilla or other sftp clients, the only way
to achieve the same thing is to create a tunnel with
putty, tunnelier or something similar.
