From: Al Campagna on 20 Apr 2010 13:51 Unknown, My AVG is running in the background. My email checks every 5 minutes, and runs in the background too Perhaps at this point it would be very difficult to try to "by logic alone" determine the culprit. That's why I asked if There was any kind of Windows XP utility or function that would "trace" Windows activity in a log, in hopes of seeing who's using what... and when. Also, this was a web site I was not familiar with, and as a Sandy suggested, it could be the site itself. Thanks for your help, Al "Unknown" <unknown(a)unknown.kom> wrote in message news:em5CLeJ4KHA.5084(a)TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > Also, how often do you check for mail? > "Al Campagna" <newsgroups(a)comcast.net> wrote in message > news:OpfH4ZJ4KHA.4964(a)TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... >> No, I'm running AVG, which should update only once a day. >> Al >> >> "Unknown" <unknown(a)unknown.kom> wrote in message >> news:OE7l69I4KHA.4016(a)TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... >>> Do you by chance have NORTON? >>> "Al Campagna" <newsgroups(a)comcast.net> wrote in message >>> news:%230vEi$D4KHA.1452(a)TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... >>>>I noticed that while watching a streaming movie, that every half hour, >>>>the movie >>>> stutters, and the audio gets out of synch with the video. >>>> >>>> This happens at 1:00, 1:30, 2:00, etc... on every half hour. >>>> >>>> This seems to be some program, is running in the background every >>>> half hour, and uses enough system resources to cause the video to >>>> stutter. >>>> >>>> I do have virus updates and some backup routines, but nothing that I >>>> would have >>>> requested to run every half hour. >>>> >>>> Is there some tool, or utility, I can use to try to find out what is >>>> running >>>> at those times? From: Unknown on 20 Apr 2010 15:42 There are times when you just have to use the process of elimination. IE shut down one or more things at a time till it no longer fails. Processes in task manager may give you a clue. .
