I stopped using GFI because it required a lot of work. I disabled SBS 2008 filters, most of them, because they always mark some good email as bad. I use zen.spamhaus.org and a couple others and see just a few spams per week. I use the anti-spam product that is part of the firewall appliance package we install at most clients and I see a few spams a month at worst. With GFI it required weekly maintenance. With UTM (firewall service) it is set and forget With RBL's, it's set and forget as long as they remain active With IMF, as long as you disable "Sender Reputation" it works well and is also set and forget. -- You can't trust your best friends, your five senses, only the little voice inside you that most civilians don't even hear -- Listen to that. From: Al Williams on 29 Mar 2010 18:14 That article was for setup of the RBL's, not IMF. Did you put zen.spamhaus.org & bl.spamcop.net as the RBL's? It should have helped a bit, did you restart exchange or reboot? Also: How does your server get it's mail? Some anti-spam solutions don't work with the POP connector BTW. As for IMF, that is MS's "free" spam control included in Exchange 2003 SP2 which does work if properly setup and updated. See: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/library/aa996624%28EXCHG.65%29.aspx Some of the older topics at the bottom of this link help as well: http://www.exchangeinbox.com/category.aspx?c=3 GFI MailEssentials performs the same function as IMF (at a cost) but the two should not be used together. PS: You shouldn't start a new thread for the same issue. -- Allan Williams John wrote: > Hi > > I have > > Set trend wfbs anti-spam to high, > Set up IMF following this article; > http://www.spamblogging.com/archives/000138.html, > Have installed GFI MailEssentials. > > What more can I do to control spam as users are still complaining of > it? > Thanks > > Regards

Disable all Exchange services. :-) Seriously, I think the IMF using RBLs and SenderID works fine without 3rd party tools. Besides, the IMF works directly with the user's Junk Email Folder in Outlook. The next best thing, IMHO, is using a 3rd party SMTP gatway at the edge. Also, there's a new RBL that works nicely. At least I think it's new, having just discovered it a month or two ago. It's Spam RATs. The one list, AllRats, combines multiple lists from RATS: all.spamrats.com.
