Quick update.

Mrs H took my Prius today, as her car was in for an MOT.

I took the old Alfa, in which I've fitted a Kenwood Bluetooth / iPod
head unit.

Couldn't plug the iPhone into the head unit and get it to play nicely
with Spotify, so tried Bluetooth streaming, which worked very nicely.

Need to work out how I can multi-task Spotify alongside Navigon now.

Works really well. Not sure if I need to stop buying music yet. It
would be nice if it had a recommendation engine as well.

Am I right in saying that there's no syncing of tracks between iphone
& desktop? I mean playlists sync and tracks also appear on the iphone
but are greyed out. It seems that you need to download them twice -
once on the desktop & once on the iphone via wifi if you want them to
be available offline. Or am I missing something?

You never download anything to the desktop - it's all streamed.

So anything 'downloaded' is only on the phone.

Playlists can be set to Offline which means the content is downloaded
and cached locally. If this is set on the desktop client I can't see a
way to sync the downloaded tracks to the iPhone. It seems you have to
set the playlist to Offline on the iphone which means the content will
be also be downloaded on that via wifi.
