From: Marilyn on 3 Apr 2010 23:41 The video plays fine until I drag it to the storyboard then it starts and stops like it is going from still to still photo. However, the audio continues to run fine. Do I need more RAM? I deleted temporary files and closed everything that was running. Other suggestions? Thanks. Marilyn

And...maybe there is a compatibility issue with the video files. Many formats are reportedly compatible with Movie Maker but the most reliable choices are: Photos - bmp Video - wmv or dv-avi Music - wma, wav, wmv -- J. From: John Inzer on 4 Apr 2010 00:21 If this is a large project...it would be worth a try to create several smaller projects...save each one in the .wmv movie format and then reimport the collection of .wmv files and drag them to the timeline for combining into a final movie. Increasing the size of your Virtual Memory Paging File might be worth a try also. From: Marilyn on 4 Apr 2010 00:48 Thanks again, John. My guess is that I need more RAM although I'll check the compatibilty. I think the videos are AVI. You've been really helpful. I appreciate your time. There are many types of .avi files and you may have compatibility issues. Might be worth a try to convert the .avi files to the .wmv format before importing into Movie Maker. The following freeware can do the conversion: (FWIW...it's always a good idea to create a System Restore point before installing software or updates) Format Factory http://www.pcfreetime.com/ (FWIW...when installing...you may want to uncheck 'all' of the boxes on the final screen) After downloading and installing Format Factory... open the program and choose an Output Folder... (this is where you will find your files after they are converted) Drag/drop your .avi video clips onto the main screen... Select 'All to WMV' / OK... Click...Start...on the toolbar... That should do it... Good luck. -- J. Inzer MS-MVP Digital Media Experience Notice This is not tech support I am a volunteer Solutions that work for me may not work for you Proceed at your own risk
