From: David Dashifen Kees David Dashifen on 29 Jan 2010 11:40 Greetings, I've got a co-worker who's produced some Word documents that, when printed, don't do so consistently with respect to the images that he's placed in the document. These images are all identifiable by a different border on-screen in Word. You can see that border in the following screen shot: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/369899/word-strange-img-border.png The slightly wider, rounded, gray border is different from the single-pixel black border that usually surrounds focused images like in this screen shot: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/369899/word-normal-img-border.png I'm looking for help in two ways: (a) what causes the different border pictured in the first screen shot above and (b) is there a way to guarantee that those images with the different border print? Thank you, David Dashifen Kees Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

They're one of the new features in Office 2007 using a different graphics engine. > The slightly wider, rounded, gray border is different from the single-pixel > black border that usually surrounds focused images like in this screen shot: > > http://dl.dropbox.com/u/369899/word-normal-img-border.png These are "normal" images (Inserted from file or Clipboard, for instance). > I'm looking for help in two ways: (a) what causes the different border > pictured in the first screen shot above and (b) is there a way to guarantee > that those images with the different border print? Both images should print, of course. But since they're kind of different technology, you probably won't get the same behavior (say, in quality). If you have consistent trouble printing SmartArts, there's probably a driver issue (graphics card or, more likely, printer).
