From: Diane Poremsky [MVP] on 14 Mar 2010 17:37 It means the rule has stop processing enabled. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com/ Outlook Tips by email: mailto:dailytips-subscribe-request(a)lists.outlooktips.net EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: mailto:EMO-NEWSLETTER-SUBSCRIBE-REQUEST(a)PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM Do you sync your mailbox with a smartphone or pda? http://forums.slipstick.com/showthread.php?t=39473 "Shane Goodman" <goodmanNoSpam(a)live.ca> wrote in message news:193D48A0-338C-4216-8A73-14A9DBA32545(a)microsoft.com... > Greetings, > > Does anyone know what this this "tool" icon means in the email rules > Actions column? > > http://cid-fdaf268c90b62422.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Forums/Rules.png > > Thanks, > Shane.
From: Shane Goodman on 14 Mar 2010 22:21 What is "stop processing"? Why is it enabled on only some rules? Thanks, Shane. Stop processing tells the rules to stop running on the current message if the rule applies to the message and to move on to the next message in the queue. If its not enabled and a message meets the conditions of 3 rules, all 3 rules will be used. If stop processing is enabled, only the first rule will be applied to the message. Stop processing is enabled on some conditions by default. for example you have 3 rules: move mail from john to john folder move mail with Hello in the subject to hello folder move mail cc'd to me to CC folder You are CC'd on a message from John with the subject Hello. The message is copied to each of the folders because the rules all apply to the message. But if stop processing is set on the first rule, the message is moved to the john folder only and rules processing on that message ends. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com/ Outlook Tips by email: mailto:dailytips-subscribe-request(a)lists.outlooktips.net EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: mailto:EMO-NEWSLETTER-SUBSCRIBE-REQUEST(a)PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM Do you sync your mailbox with a smartphone or pda? http://forums.slipstick.com/showthread.php?t=39473 "Shane Goodman" <goodmanNoSpam(a)live.ca> wrote in message news:625C1350-3DE5-443D-A1A0-633722CCD503(a)microsoft.com... > What is "stop processing"?
