From: Gaiko on 24 Apr 2010 13:47 Hi, I have a bunch of older but functioning SATA drives (sata 1, sata 2) of various sizes. And i have a Dlink DNS-323 which i am slowly filling up (and usually add newer/larger hard drives once they become cost/effective) so the smaller drives from this dlink are still useful. So, i was reading about the drobos (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Drobo) and they seem neat but expensive and the ones with enough bays were way out of my price range. I was also looking at windows home server's "Drive extender" option as well. I am trying to weigh these, and any other options for cheaply and redundantly using the myriad of drives i have. Does anyone have any suggestions how to cheaply use a bunch of drives (of varying speeds, sizes, and SATA versions), that are made to look like one large drive, and have redundancy? Any suggestions/ideas would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, -Gaiko
