First thanks to everybody who helped me. I have one last question involving m_map and contour lines. How do I get the contour lines to stop at the edge of my coastline instead of continuing through land?

Make the nodes that are on land NaNs
Once again, this problem has nothing to do with m_map and everything
to do with your calculation of the data in your grid.
