From: Peter on 13 Feb 2007 12:12 Hi I am running Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 SP1. I am getting this message once every minute: "...Faulting application svchost.exe, version 5.2.3790.1830, faulting module WsmProv.dll, version 5.2.3790.2075, fault address 0x00000000000014dc. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp...." The link is pointless, as it is just general information. I'm not sure that it's actually doing any harm, but I don't like the mesage. Has anybody any ideas please? Thanks
From: Tony Sperling on 13 Feb 2007 20:55 As far as I can make out this is just part of the message - the actual message that would make the 'useless' link worthwhile is missing - perhaps something about a driver that couldn't be loaded, or an 'Qued error', or a Hanging application, or missing priviliges. Try and copy the complete message for us, or at least some description of what is happening when the message is occuring - or we shall be quite as useless ourselves! As you can see, the error can have many causes! Tony. . . From: Peter on 14 Feb 2007 04:03 Tony: The message has now changed to a pair of Event ID 1004 & Event ID 1001 ocurring every minute or so. The Event ID 1001 (Application Error) message simply gives "Fault bucket 00093943." The Event ID 1004 (Application Error): " Reporting queued error: faulting application svchost.exe, version 5.2.3790.1830, faulting module WsmProv.dll, version 5.2.3790.2075, fault address 0x00000000000014dc. " For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. This link points to: " Product: Windows Operating System Event ID: 1004 Source: Application Error Version: 5.2 Symbolic Name: ER_QUEUEREPORT_LOG Message: Reporting queued error: faulting application %1, version %2, faulting module %3, version %4, fault address 0x%5. Explanation The indicated program stopped unexpectedly. The message contains details on which program and module stopped. A matching event with Event ID 1001 might also appear in the event log. This matching event displays information about the specific error that occurred. " There are a variety of "similar" mesages quoted, but none appear to resolve this one. I hope this is now sufficient information to help, as I'm totally unable to find anything about this Thanks! .. From: Tony Sperling on 14 Feb 2007 05:00 This may take a while - I noticed the 1001 ID results in links to 158 articles, where most are not in english - so, is this a problem with Nationalized Versions? What Language Version are you running - I can just about manage the German, but French and Spanish has me lost. The que'ed error as a recurring theme mentions Citrix Servers and Terminal Services and failing log-ons and having insufficient priviliges - the short of the long is that you may have to do some digging in the Knowledge Base since these links are very product specific and only you know all about what you're having and what it is there for. This knowledge may be essential to find any of those few links that really would make sense. This, in many ways, is a search for 'hunches'. You are in the right place - read as much as you can - and follow your hunches. Heck, this is almost like a story out of the Brothers Grim! The unlikliest hunches lead you forward on your quest. I used this as a search string: Reporting queued error: faulting application svchost.exe, version 5.2.3790.1830, faulting module WsmProv.dll, version 5.2.3790.2075, fault address 0x00000000000014dc. You have to type it in, or open a wide window to copy and paste the whole string in one gulp! And try searching while using your specific software that is listed above the search window. Tony. . . From: Peter on 14 Feb 2007 05:20 Tony Many thanks for your continued thoughts. I'm working in English on a UK English system, so I would have thought no linguistic problems! You have sort of confirmed my thoughts that this appears to be related to accessing the system using "Terminal Services" / RDP (actually Remote Desktop, but who's counting?), and that this is a quest to give Sherlock Holmes pause for thought! A strange problem is that it appears to linger AFTER I have logged-off the terminal services connection so maybe I'll just up the priviledges of the service.... Anyhow thanks again, and I'm happy to hear from anyone else who encounters this. I'll post a conclusion if I get to one!
