Even SP2 does not have built-in Sata drivers (and I don't think SP3 does but I don't have a Microsoft SP3 CD to verify that). As far as I know, ***ALL*** versions of XP require an add-on driver to access SATA drives, unless the motherboard or laptop supports emulation (which, in fact, most do, today).
