From: Nobody on 20 Mar 2010 15:03 I'm a relatively new user of Thunderbird, and recently upgraded to 3.0.3, from a 2 version. I became used to an automatic query when forwarding messages whether to send as text or html or both... but I notice 3.0.3 isn't asking me. I've looked in all the options and settings I can think of, and don't see any prompt. Anyone have an idea? I also notice 3.0.3 loads a lot more slowly. Sometimes (more often than not the first occasion after turning on the PC each day) I get a very brief almost web page view welcoming me to T'bird. Also, that first time daily, T'bird spends 30-40 secs going through a routine of "indexing messages". I don't recall v2 doing that, at least not so much as to delay checking for new messages.

Anyone have an idea? Go to "Tools Options Composition", click the button "Send Options". Then at the top of the "Send Options" window, set "Text Format" to "Ask me what to do". For *forwarding*, I think this may depend on which forward option you have selected: "Inline" or "As Attachment". If you read the fine print at the top of the "Send Options" window, the option only applies when your address book entry for the recipient does *not* say that the recipient prefers to receive messages formatted as HTML. So check your address book entries too. Also. When you click "forward", check whether what opens is the HTML composition window or the Plain Text composition window. The HTML composition window has a text formatting toolbar between the header area and the body pane. You will not get a prompt if you are using the Plain Text composition window. -- Regards Ralph

I thought I'd gone through all the possibilities, but that one somehow slipped under my radar. Thank you. I'm a cappy hamper again. > >For *forwarding*, I think this may depend on which forward >option you have selected: "Inline" or "As Attachment". > >If you read the fine print at the top of the "Send Options" >window, the option only applies when your address book entry >for the recipient does *not* say that the recipient prefers >to receive messages formatted as HTML.
