And according to The Register anyone who isn't already using
Thunderbird should probably wait until version 3.1 goes live before
giving it a go:

I'm using the current version of TB. It's a little slower than 2.x, but
not a big deal. If I had a newer computer, I probably wouldn't notice
the difference.
