I am not able to see hyperlinks for predecessors in the Task drivers
pan that belong to a sub project in MS project 2007. Is there any way
to make this work?

Also I am not able to see the ghost tasks in master file even if I
turn on show external predecessor/successor options in tools ->
options-> view

I do have links from master to child and child to master and still the
ghost links don't display. I was thinking if I could display these
then may be clicking the ghost link would open the child project and
select the driving predecessor and I could use task drivers in that
file to proceed further.

Has anyone run into these issues? Appreciate any help.

To the best of my knowledge, no.

Where are the ghost tasks? If the master project contains the
inserted tasks, than there are no "external" predecessor and
successor tasks -- they are all visible in the master project.

If you open the "child" project alone, do you see the external
predecessors and successors back to the master?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
