I have a terminal server that is being used by a number of writers. It
is inside our companies firewall and the writers are logging in
through our companies VPN.

The problem is speed. All users are using the same application but
someexperience a very slow connection while others are OK.

Is it possible that screen redraw makes a difference? All users have
DSL or beter.

Thanks.

There so many possible factors here which could be the cause for the slow
performance therefore I think you will not find here an general a.e. reg
hack which can boost your TS performance :-)

But.... :
You should monitor the general performance of both systems, that you can
exclude a serverside over utilization of the ressources :
Using baseline Windows Performance Monitor @ Terminal Servers
http://www.virtualizationadmin.com/articles-tutorials/terminal-services/general/windows-performance-monitor-baseline-terminal-server-part1.html
Terminal Server Performance Monitor Objects and Counters
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/186536

If the slow performance of your TS is only monitored from VPN clients then
you should also investigate the LAN/WAN utilization during the access times.
The remote connection (DSL) of your users is also important here (a.e.
fasthpath/latency/bandwith).

With these results should get a good picture of the utilization of your
ressources and ideally identify the bottlenecks in your environment. Then
you should be able to guerantee the server side performance and step into
the client side troubleshooting :-)
