From: asf66 on 17 Mar 2010 17:31 Dear Al, Many thanks for all the posts. I was able to re-insatll the missing games. I guess they were there all the time. I did multiple searches, using *.exe, spider, with no results. I then went to the i386 folder and saw spider.e_, spider.ch_ and spider.hl_. I then went back to Add/Remove..... and tried different combinations of checked and unchecked boxes and voila, it worked. The other day when I tried that, I removed some of the aux. apps., like the calculator etc. My fear was that I would delted more applications etc and really be screwed. The default setting on most of these components is : checked. I was worried that by hitting next with everything checked, I would delete more as stated above. Again, I appreciate everyone's input. Cheers- asf66 "asf66" wrote: > Dear All, > > > I deleted the games that came loaded on my pc, Spider Sol, Solitaire, > Minesweeper etc. They are truly gone as they don't appear in the > Windows/System 32 folder. I then went to the i386 folder and saw spider.e_, >spider.ch_ and spider.hl_. I always search for spider.* in a situation like this. It's easier to type than .ext and it finds directories and .ico files and gives a better idea of how many associated files a given file has. > >I then went back to Add/Remove..... and tried different combinations of >checked and unchecked boxes and voila, it worked. That screen is pretty scary, I agree. >The default setting on most of these components is : checked. I was worried >that by hitting next with everything checked, I would delete more as stated >above. You were wrong, but I know why you felt that way. >Again, I appreciate everyone's input. > >Cheers- > >asf66 > >"asf66" wrote: > >> Dear All, >> >> >> I deleted the games that came loaded on my pc, Spider Sol, Solitaire, >> Minesweeper etc. They are truly gone as they don't appear in the >> Windows/System 32 folder.
