If that bore and the cement seal around the casing is so badly fractured as you suggest (or report) then this would seem to be the best option! Why not dangle a heavily weighted, submersible nuclear device way down the bore, say to a depth of maybe 9,000 feet, about half-way, and let 'er rip? Shouldn't get much fall-out, if any, at such a depth as that. And you sure as hell would think the thing would be closed off, if not entirely by the rock debris, then by the gradual formation of hydrates. -- JM
