The Planetary Scary

We walk on rock as old as time and wonder where it went
Time running out for nature as our nurture overwhelms...
For we are left to turn the tide; sure before the sea is swelling
As our air becomes a shadow witnessed by the crying stars.
Some dream of fleeing into space and finding some paradise,
And here we begin to tax the smoke that escapes our daily taxing.
To forever pay for our sins in service to the apotheosis of the dollar
And the digging up of dragons knowing their time came too soon.
Still walking on rock that has witnessed much among the natural
Yearning for the tales it could someday tell; its lasting grasp on
time.
Lost among ghosts of a word or a rhyme, the figures always found
Some things we never knew, and then, still some things too much,
But all in all it would only seem we failed the master’s touch.
