Mine is a great content creation tool, and the developer support in making apps like Pages, PaperDesk, Ideas, Drawing Pad and others seems to bear that out. Isn't the value of the tool in its utility to the user? If I want to use it as a content creation tool, and there are products to support that use, who cares what a bunch of marketeers *think* it should be used for? There already are some interesting music making applications for it, as well as a few drawing and painting ones; I agree that perhaps Apple themselves are not sure about what it is in that respect. -- flavio matani guitar tuition http://www.flaviomatani.co.uk http://fflavio.com

Of course they aren't. They build it and sell it; initially they have to believe that they know how people will use it, but they can't have any idea of all the ways it'll finish up. William Gibson said it; 'the street finds its own use for things'. -- Peter

Do you remember me posting this: <http://tenori-on.yamaha-europe.com/uk/> a while ago? Bet something similar could be done with an iPad. Using it as a DAW controller too - I have some dedicated hardware this could potentially replace (though not all - I do like some tactile feedback must be said). Cheers, Ian

From what I sw in the link, Beatwave could be a (rather crude, ok) approximation to that idea. In that sense yes, people are beginning to come up with things. Korg have an iPad version of their Electrotribe sequencer. which does seem geared towards genres a bit different to what I would be interested in doing but, nonetheless, interesting toy. Have been playing with iSequence (which also exists for the iPhone but is much nicer to use on the larger screen), MiniSynth pro and a few other things. I can see this could be dangerous... a couple of pounds at a time, you think 'it's less than the cost of a pint..' but they do pile up... -- flavio matani guitar tuition http://www.flaviomatani.co.uk http://fflavio.com
