Either that, or you've just been subjected to fraud.

There's a lot of it about - deliberately trying to hide the true cost of
something from the purchaser is a game that sellers have been playing
since prehistory[1], at a guess.

True. But, as has already been mentioned, there are many sites where
they quote a good price and then the p & p add on doesn't appear until
the end of the check out procedure. I've given up before now with sites
where I was unable to find out the shipping costs before registering
etc. and I'm sure they figure that some people having got that far will
simply carry on rather than start the whole process again regardless of
their outrageous charges.

I found this company by going to Amazon, this gives the impression that
all sellers can be trusted to be fair.
So some people may not check all the facts until the last click, then
it's to late.
