I had the same problem. After playing around for a while, I figured out what the problem was.
You will have to change the filters for the Machine query. Can you see the "And" and "or" conditions. These are set to "User name - equals - me". Change the filter to "Is not null" and refresh the list(F5). This should show you all the PCs in the network use the "Machines" list. Choose the PC your PC, right click on it and choose "move" to move it to the required machine pool.
Hope this helps.

The only time I have had this problem is when either firewalls are getting
in the way, which I am glad you mentioned. I always turn them completely
off on server and client.

OR, the client software was not installed directly from the server. As in,
from the client you navigate to the share on the server and run the
installer from there, no copy local just double click the install right on
the server share.

i read the document, and play, but I can't.

Page 15, 3 - After you have installed DTM Client software on your test
clients, the controller automatically detects new test clients and adds them
to the Default Pool

but i does havn't 'test clients' in Default Pool.

i try, clinet windows xp and vista32, but always empty in DTM Studio Default
Pool.

How can client detect?

I have this same problem with my DTM client on Windows XP. The client pc
never shows up in the DTM Studio Machines list. I've tried with the firewall
on (and the exceptions are setup on both the controller and client) and off
on both pcs but nothing.

I did the same scenario (using the same pcs) with my client as Vista
(instead of XP) and it works fine.

Any idea why XP client won't register itself with the DTM controller?

I re-ghosted the client pc. And this time I logged in as the same user that
is on the server. Then I installed the client software (using \\<server
name\DTMInstall\Client\Setup.exe). Then on the server I opened Studio and it
showed the client pc this time. It would not let me Reset the Status of the
client pc (it was complaining the last Heartbeat was over 30 min ago). So I
deleted the client from Studio, Rebooted the server, Started Studio and after
a few minutes it found the client again and this time I was able to Reset the
Status and run my tests.

I'm not sure why it worked this time and not the first time. I suspect it
was because of using usera on the server and userb on the client. Even
though usera & userb are members of the administrators group.

Thanks for your help.
