Have you tried Orange's CS recently?
Last month it took them 2 weeks and half a dozen phone calls to
find the button to reset my online account after they fecked up my
password and couldn't issue me with one that worked.

I've used 3 CS several times recently, mostly to port in numbers
to get their 10 quid port in bonus, and they've been successful
every time

That sounds very odd. I've not had problems with SIMs with no credit. Are
you sure you haven't put the phone in 'flight' mode somehow?

Try swapping the SIM with that in the dongle. It sounds like you have
no signal (for some reason) rather than have been disconnected.

I don't see the bones of a case for Trading Standards to get their
teeth into.

Man with no credit (or perhaps even negative credit) on phone attempts
to use chargeable services and fails; accuses company of fraud

Why not call 3's customer services?

Even a SIM which has never had credit on it will connect to My3,
connect to Skype, can call customer services free of charge. Are you
sure you've given us the whole picture? Have you reversed any credit
card payments. for example?

Don't do credit cards for top ups. And phone / account was basically u/
s.

So bought a £10 top up voucher from W.H.Smith. But couldn't connect to
enter the voucher PIN no. So got the sales assistant to call 3
Customer Service. After press this and that and wating on hold for 5
minutes we got through, and they said the PIN no. on the voucher was
too short and was invalid!! W.H.Smith refused to give me my money
back. Got them to call 3 CS again. They went through a check on the
account and couldn't explain why the connection had been lost or
account barred. Gave them the voucher PIN no. again - then aftef a few
minutes the phone suddenly woke up with a text from 3 saying that the
top up had gone through. Checked My3 and there it was. No
explanations. But the phone now works again OK - except that the
Internet top up went from 150Mb to 149.99 in the hour it took to get
home. This credit leakage is what took my credit to zero before. But I
checked and Facebook and Skype and Messenger and RSS Feeds were all
switched off or logged out. 3 must be making a fortune from credit
leakage. End of current saga. CJB.

Not noticed any credit leakage here on 4 3pay phones.
But if you allocate a 5quid internet monthly it pretty much wouldn't matter

It would require a flood than a leakage to exceed 2gb per month
