From: chris on 20 May 2010 09:23 Yesterday and today I've been getting reminders to upgrade TB to the latest version 3.0.5. However, clicking the more info link brings up a 404 and the thunderbird homepage still has 3.0.4 as the current release. Is anyone else getting the prompt to upgrade?

I'm not but my TB was installed using Mandriva's package manager so it wouldn't surprise me if I need to wait until someone packages it up. I'm 3.0.4 now. I noticed a few improvements in filtering last upgrade, but stability doesn't seem any better :-( . -- www.slowbicyclemovement.org - enjoy the ride

Interesting, I've only started using Thunderbird [well, Icedove] in the past couple of months, and I've never had it crash or hang on me. I've got one IMAP, one SMTP and two usenet accounts configured. The only quality issue I've found is that when exiting it goes to 100% CPU every time and needs to be killed manually. What sort of stability issues do you see? -- <http://ale.cx/> (AIM:troffasky) (UnSoEsNpEaTm(a)ale.cx) 21:55:27 up 22 days, 21:52, 0 users, load average: 0.56, 0.25, 0.25 It is better to have been wasted and then sober than to never have been wasted at all

Every so often ( I guess on average about three times a week ) it will simply crash when advancing to the next message. I confess I've not bothered yet to look for a log file to see what might have happened. I have just the one usenet account configured and only subscribe to a dozen or so groups. -- www.slowbicyclemovement.org - enjoy the ride

That's not my experience either. I wouldn't call it rock solid, but neither does it crash with great regularity. I have to two IMAP and one newsgroup accounts. I run on Centos and it would take weeks before I get any new updates via Yum. With internet facing apps such as Tbird and Firefox I always keep them as up-to-date as possible. |
