From: Chris Ridd on 28 Mar 2010 09:49 This is odd. I just logged in (10.6.2) and a modal alert appeared: --- Time Profile Failed Time profile was not authorized by user. [OK] --- It has a generic app icon. It doesn't seem associated with any named app. It seems to be interfering with the spotlight menu item, which doesn't come down when it is clicked on, and command-space doesn't work now. Has anyone else seen it? What causes it? -- Chris

What causes it? Quite a few other Apple menu items on the RHS have pretty much disabled contents - eg Time Machine, clock, power, airport, bluetooth, scripts. A google's not shown any hits for "Time Profile Failed". There's nothing odd-looking in system.log either. -- Chris

Might there be a connection with the change to summer time? This'll be the first time with Snow Leopard. -- Peter

The only other odd thing was that Backup.app kicked off a timed daily backup, but then it normally does when I log in regardless of the time. But yes, it still could be summer time related. -- Chris
