Are there any hidden defaults which alter the titlebar/controlbar?

But in general me too. I also like that H.264 stuff is handed off to
the GPU in QTX. Actually, I haven't measured how much difference that
makes.

True. But Safari seem to default to using the new Quicktime to display
stuff, so you can't save any movie clips you find and like on the web. Or at
least if you can then I don't know how.

Yep. Flip4Mac seems a bit slow on mine but it also needs an update that I
haven't got around to installing yet, so that may be a non-issue.

If there are then I haven't found them. Mind you, I've not gone looking very
hard. I feel a Google session coming on...

Let me know if you do - I'd be interested in the results.

It does look like it.

There was a transition through 10.4 and 10.5, in which use of the old
resource fork was deprecated, but still worked (in 10.4, anyway).

Looks like they've followed their own logic and dropped it completely in
10.6.

Ah, okay.

I use Firefox rather than Safari, but that might be no different if
Quicktime X is set to be the default QT handler.

Have you tried using 'get info' on a QT extension file and set it to be
opened by QT7, and checked 'change all'? Or doesn't that work in the new
OS?

I used to use Misfox for this kind of thing but I don't suppose for a
second that it has survived as far as 10.6. But maybe there's a more up
to date equivalent?
