Is there any program (preferably free) that can detect all the files and
registry keys needed to run a particular program, copy them and allow
you to attempt transfer to another computer if you have lost the install
CD (or floppies) and the software company has gone out of business?

Works sometimes.
Does NOT work on anything microsoft or that is locked to one computer
by phoning home.
But it does work...sometimes.
