I have an 2nd Gen iPod touch and am thinking of buying a 3rd gen so I
can have multitasking on the new OS. However, I am concerned about how
to transfer my paid for apps from the iTunes store. In particular, I
have a $20 Spanish English dictionary from Ultralingua that I definitely
do not want to repurchase. How does one do this or can you lead me to a
URL that explains it.

TIA

just sync it. you can load apps on as many devices as you own. if you
restore from a backup, the new ipod will have the identical content as
the old ipod. you can also repurchase apps for no additional cost.

Applications on the iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad are associated with a
particular iTunes account.

The same iTunes account can be used by up to five computers and an
unlimited number of iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad devices. Any
applications you have purchased can be used on every such device you own
(assuming they are compatible with the hardware). I have an iPhone and
an older iPod Touch and I have most of my applications on both of them.

Same goes for music or other media types - you can use music purchased
from the iTunes store on all your iPods, iPhones, iPads and Apple TVs
(and up to five computers).

There are occasionally restrictions, for example Bento on the Mac can
only synchronize with Bento on one iPhone or iPod Touch, plus one iPad,
but if you had Bento running on several computers, each could
synchronize with a different iPhone or iPod Touch.

Note also that many applications have separate iPhone and iPad versions,
which must be bought separately. You can run the iPhone version on the
iPad, but its user interface is limited to the size of the iPhone screen
(or a pixel doubled enlargement). The iPad version will have a better
user interface which takes full advantage of the larger screen and is
likely to have different or improved features.

Apple hasn't made this very clear on their web site, but this article
explains several ways of setting up iTunes for dealing with more than
one iPod, including an option for having two synchornize to the same
iTunes library, possibly with different playlists. Applications work
like music, but don't have playlists.

Did you sync your 2nd Gen with iTunes?

Just sync your new one.

Which is how all my applications/books/music on my iPod Touch ended up
on my iPad. Piece of cake.

Thanks for the complete rsponse. I guess my question really shows my
ignorance about iTouch synching. Anyway, I have a following question:

After I synch my new iTouch to my MavBook, is it possible to synch it
also to my windows netbook without erasing all the flash memory?
