From: Sound4hire.co.uk on 30 Jun 2006 12:45 HI All, The 440's do need EQ and they are certainly different from the newer version the 445 Better controled dispersion on the HF and sound better for it. Depending on if you are using the 440's for speech or music the DSP settings will change. but not with the new 445 Music: TQ-440 (music) 12 0 + 0.125 30Hz ** 1.31kHz * Auto (-1dB) -1.8dB(a)405Hz (Q=3), -3.0dB(a)721Hz (Q=3) 6.5" + 1" -2 + 0.000 1.31kHz * 22kHz Auto (-1dB) -5.3dB(a)1.71kHz (Q=1.7), -2.2dB(a)4.08kHz (Q=2.5), +2.2dB(a)10.5kHz (Q=2.0) Speech: TQ-440 (speech) 12 0 + 0.125 30Hz ** 1.31kHz * Auto (-1dB) -1.8dB(a)405Hz (Q=3), -3.0dB(a)721Hz (Q=3) 6.5" + 1" 0 + 0.000 1.31kHz * 22kHz Auto (-1dB) -5.3dB(a)1.71kHz (Q=1.7), -2.2dB(a)4.08kHz (Q=2.5), +2.2dB(a)10.5kHz (Q=2.0) Both the 440 and the 445's do not sound as good as they can when used with "lesser" quality DSP and Amps. We hold a stock of both cabinets and have A-B tested lots of DSP's and amps. By far the best combination is a XTA DP226 or Turbosound LMS D6 (same thing with a different face plate) and the MC2 Amps. E25 on mid AND Hi. If the above doesn't display very clear feel free to email me at Brett(a)sound4hire.co.uk and I will forward an Excel Spred for you. Brett

They seem to be about the best sounding DSP on pretty much every box I've heard them on. I haven't had a chance to compare the Lake on multiple systems yet though, but it's unique EQ controls look pretty interesting. Rupert

HI Rob, They are 445's, two are 440's which were upgraded to 445's. The post was in reply to the 440 questions etc hense the header and subject miss-match. Only reason for sale is due to us changing to Funktion-one.
