From: TimeRunner on 29 Mar 2010 11:45 I don't want files to open with the "Final Showing Changes" screen display after I have changed the display option to "Final". How can I control file opening view?

While I don't recommend doing it (because others can still see your tracked changes, and using this setting can result in unfortunate accidents), if you're using Word 2007, in Word Options, click Trust Center - Trust Center Settings - Privacy Options, and remove the check next to "Make hidden markup visible when opening or saving". Note that this affects only your Word settings--not the settings on someone else's computer. So, if you send the document to someone else and they haven't changed the default settings, then they will still see the tracked changes. While I find it handy to set the view to Final so I can edit with fewer distractions, I personally like being reminded that the document contains tracked changes so that I don't accidentally send it that way to the wrong person. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word Bible Blog: http://word.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "TimeRunner" <TimeRunner(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:26B78E48-0815-41C3-881C-9D569F89FE9F(a)microsoft.com... > I don't want files to open with the "Final Showing Changes" screen display > after I have changed the display option to "Final".
