From: JudyH on 7 Jan 2009 13:15 I have a Dell Dimension 8300 running Windows XP. I cannot install any new USB devices. The software and hardware appear to load OK but then the Install New Hardware Wizard says it can't find the software. Have tried installing USB 2.0 PCI card in case that was the problem, but can't install this either - same error. Any clues/solutions?
From: JS on 7 Jan 2009 14:22 Did you install the driver on the CD that came with your PCI card? -- JS http://www.pagestart.com "JudyH" <JudyH(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:9465AC30-B608-4C48-A493-4E5FDD641466(a)microsoft.com... >I have a Dell Dimension 8300 running Windows XP. From: JudyH on 7 Jan 2009 14:34 Yes, of course I installed the driver with the PCI card. And with a mouse. And with a webcam. But my computer still 'can't find the software'. From: CBoom on 7 Jan 2009 14:35 the pci cards usually don't have drivers... they are plug and play and use drivers that xp and vista already have, they give a CD but that is for windows 98- Me "JS" <@> wrote in message news:Oc5EJ1PcJHA.1184(a)TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > Did you install the driver on the CD that came with your PCI card? > > -- > JS > http://www.pagestart.com > > > "JudyH" <JudyH(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:9465AC30-B608-4C48-A493-4E5FDD641466(a)microsoft.com... >>I have a Dell Dimension 8300 running Windows XP. From: CBoom on 7 Jan 2009 14:36 Judy... can you describe the exact hardware you are trying to install in the USB ? This is probably not a problem with your USB ports.. So lets locate the real problem...
